North Somerset Council will be installing four new road humps and improving the existing ones on Banwell High Street next week.
The High Street is not the main road through the village but the lane running along the hillside from the Caves at Knightcott.
Work begins on Monday, February 25, and road will be closed for a week with no through traffic possible.
The council is asking that road users avoid the area while this essential traffic calming work takes place.
A diversion route will operate through West Street A371, Westfield Crescent, Littlefields Avenue and vice versa.
The work will cost £2,500 with Banwell Parish Council paying for half the costs of the scheme.
