NORTH Somerset residents are being urged to support a charity dinner and dance in Weston-super-Mare in aid of Cancer Research UK.
North Somerset Council Chairman Terry Porter has organised a grand charity dinner and dance at The Winter Gardens, in Royal Parade, on February 9, at 7.30pm.
Entertainment will be provided by one of the south west's top bands, the Firebirds, and there will be a grand raffle and charity auction.
Mr Porter said: "I am holding my Charity Ball in the splendid location of the Winter Gardens ballroom on Saturday 9th February.
"My chosen charity for this event, and a fashion show I am organising on February 20, is Cancer Research UK.
"In the past year I have lost several close friends to cancer and I am sure many of us are in a similar situation.
"The funds raised will be used to fund cancer research, specifically in Weston General hospital.
"Your support can help to raise funds for a very worthwhile charity, as well as having an enjoyable evening."
Peter Undery, general manager, said: "We are pleased to be staging this black tie event in aid of this very worthy cause and we hope the community will get behind the event and raise valuable funds for Cancer Research UK."
Tickets cost £35 and are on sale now, call the Winter Gardens Box office on 01934 417117, The Playhouse Box Office on 01934 645544 or Terry Porter on 07989 855339.
