A CHARITY is appealing for volunteers to help them raise vital funds by shaking collection buckets at this year's Weston-super-Mare carnival.
The North Somerset branch of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society needs people to come forward to help collect at the illuminated parade on November 9.
The carnival regularly attracts thousands of visitors to the town and the charity is hoping to get a welcome boost from their generosity.
North Somerset branch chairman, Paul Steckler, said: "We were delighted to be confirmed as one of the charities fundraising at this year's Weston Carnival - but we need more help to collect as many donations as we can.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for the society as it's a wonderful spectacle that so many flock to the town to see.
"If anyone can give just a little time walking with the procession with one of our buckets we'd be able to get much more out of it and hopefully raise enough to continue the valuable services we offer to local people with MS."
The branch is the only organisation dedicated to helping local people affected by the neurological condition MS.
Multiple sclerosis affects around 340 people in North Somerset and the local branch provides them with emotional support, exercise classes and social activities, as well as access to financial support.
The branch is entirely run by volunteers and the money received by the society from the carnival will go directly to providing crucial help to people with MS and their families.
The carnival starts at Locking Road coach park at 7.15pm and snakes its way around the town.
All monies collected go into a 'pot' and each participating charity receives an equal share.
Anyone who can help should call the society on 0800 111 4780 to volunteer.
Collectors must be 16 years old or over and physically fit to walk the route.
