Herons' Moor School in Weston-super-Mare Rated Good

HERONS' Moor Community Primary School in Weston-super-Mare has been rated good by Ofsted inspectors.

Inspectors gave the rating following a recent visit and also stated achievement is now good.

In the new report Ofsted said:" The headteacher, ably supported by staff and the governing body, has successfully driven improvement in provision and outcomes for pupils."

The report also highlighted numerous outstanding aspects of the school including the way the children are looked after; how the children remain healthy; and the care, guidance and support the school offers.

Inspectors also found that 'where lessons are most successful, teachers skilfully plan for pupils of all abilities so that they make good progress from their own starting points. 

The report adds that the headteacher, senior leadership team and governing body are totally focused on driving school improvement.

Headteacher, Julie Fox said: "This report reflects the hard work and commitment that the staff, governors and parents have put in to make Herons' Moor the great school that it is.

"I am very proud that the inspectors highlighted how caring, confident and considerate the pupils at Herons' Moor are."

The report also says that pupils have an excellent understanding of how to keep safe in school and in the wider world.

To improve further the school must now improve the monitoring of pupils' progress to give more detailed information.

It must also improve teaching so that all lessons are more consistently good or better by improving the consistency of teachers' marking and ensuring that teachers' planning consistently meets the needs of, and challenges all pupils, especially the more able.
