CLEVEDON Under-15s went down 26-29 against Weston-super-Mare in a thrilling and competitive derby at Coleridge Vale.

Clevedon found themselves two tries down in the opening ten minutes, but fought back with first-half tries from Luke Gardner and Tom Lyle, one of which was converted by Kieran Hill.

Weston scored again score early in the second half, but Clevedon responded with tries from Dan Haskell and Phil Pritchard, both converted by Hill.

However, the visitors held on for victory in a nail-biting finale.

Cleve Under-15s gained a 35-24 away victory over Chippenham.

The firm pitch suited Cleve's expansive style of play, as they ran in five converted tries through Tom Cox (2), Arjan Singh, Jaid Wiltshire and Liam Crew. Cox slotted all five conversions for the Mangotsfield-based club.

Aretians Under-14s looked to be heading for a victory in their opening game of the season after leading St Brendan's 22-20 as the full-time whistle approached.

But the Little Stoke side suffered heartache as Saints launched a length of the field final attack, which ended with a stunning try that settled the contest.

Aretians No 8 and captain Jake Murphy scored all his side's points with four tries and a conversion in his man-of-the-match performance.

Southmead Under-11s put on a dazzling display of running rugby to overcome Chipping Sodbury 62-40.

Gage Williams led the try count with a hat-trick, while George Clarke claimed a try double.

Kyle Phillips, Alfie Bond, Cameron Brown, star man Alfie Davies and Devon White also crossed for tries, while White slotted six conversions.

Dings Crusaders Under-10s continued where they left off last season with a comfortable win at home against Whitehall.

The Lockleaze-based side were full of running and ran in seven tries.

They were scored by Jake Baker, Steen Maxwell, Jack Troote, Taylor Williams, Lewis Chant, Callum Gasson and man-of-the-match Mike Thatcher.

Hornets Under-16 continued their unbeaten start to the season with an impressive 36-10 victory at St Mary's.

The visitors were 12-3 ahead at half-time, thanks to tries from Sam Balkham and Adam Francis.

But then Hornets turned on the power in the second half to run in four more tries through Lewis Brake (2), Balkham and Joe Howe.

Three of the six tries were converted – two by Connor Davidson and the other by Francis

junior and mini rugby is being played all over our region, with teams aged from 8 to 18.
hundreds of teams supported by hundreds of parents. The amount of work done by coaches and secretaries is monumental.
Surely the BEP can give a better coverage for the benefit of all (especially the kids and proud relatives) than they give now.
