Locking Parklands, the mixed-use
development built on the former RAF Locking site in Weston-super-Mare, has been
named as one of the top sites in the UK for those searching for their first
home.
Built by St. Modwen Homes, the
residential arm of St. Modwen, the UK's leading regeneration specialist,
Locking Parklands has been shortlisted in the Best Large Development category for
the national First Time Buyer Awards; an awards programme that recognises those
housing developments and housebuilders that aim to make purchasing a first home
achievable.
Locking Parklands has proven a
resounding success with first time buyers – particularly those currently living
locally to Weston-super-Mare – with more than 50 per cent of the homes sold so
far at the development bought by those moving into their first home. What's
more 95 per cent of these first time buyers have benefitted from using one of
the purchaser schemes made available by St. Modwen Homes.
Neil Simpson, sales and marketing
director at St. Modwen Homes said: "First time buyers have faced a real
struggle since the property market crashed in 2007 and even recent statistics
show that it will take many people looking to buy their first home a decade to
save the required deposit. For a healthy property market to exist we need to
encourage purchases at all levels of the property ladder and we have ensured that
this has remained a real focus for St. Modwen Homes. As a company we have
launched a number of schemes aimed at making life easier for first time buyers,
for example our equity loan scheme FirstStep requires a deposit of just five
per cent which is 75 per cent less that the national average.
"To have been shortlisted for the
national First Time Buyers Awards is a fantastic achievement for Locking Parklands
and to know that it is being voted for by the general public is even more
rewarding."
The properties at Locking Parklands are
aimed at those on all stages of the property ladder but in the first phase of
the development, The Parkside, particular focus was given to designing homes
suited to first time buyers, taking into account sustainability, design and affordability.
The upcoming phase, The Meadows, will also boast a range of properties designed
with first time buyers in mind.
Just one year old, Locking Parklands
has already been named the third best residential development in the UK in the national
What House Awards (November 2012). The award was given in recognition of the
original house designs and attractive streetscapes at Locking Parklands which
set the site apart from other new build developments across the country.
The First Time Buyer Awards are voted
for by the general public. Those wishing to vote for Locking Parklands in the
Best Large Development category can do so by completing the online form at http://www.ftbawards.com/voting-poll.html
Currently available for sale at Locking
Parklands is a selection of three and four bedroom homes from £219,500, and the
next phase is due to be released for sale next month, offering one, two, three
and four bedroom homes and apartments from £129,995.
The development boasts good road access to the
M5 and A371 and is just a short ten minute drive to the beach and Weston-super-Mare
town centre. The Locking Parklands marketing suite, located on Farnborough Road
off the A371, is open for visitors seven days a week between 10am and 6pm. For
