A MAN arrested during a drug raid in Weston-super-Mare had tried to conceal heroin packages – inside himself. Police raided a property in Weston on Monday and arrested a 42-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man. During the early morning raid, officers discovered almost £2,000 in cash and drugs paraphernalia as well as some weaponry. No drugs were found at the scene, despite police suspecting dealing was taking place at the flat. Officers became convinced that the pair had hidden the drugs inside their bodies so arrested them both for possession with intent to supply heroin and took them to Weston General Hospital to be x-rayed. The x-ray identified four packages inside the man which once tested were found to be 16 grams of heroin. Both suspects have been charged with possession with intent to supply drugs and are due to appear before North Somerset Magistrates Court. Chief Superintendent Julian Moss said: "I hope that this sends a message to other would be drug dealers. "We are watching you and if you decide to sell drugs in Weston we will be relentless in pursuing you and bringing you to justice. "Dealing drugs doesn't pay. What it can earn you is a very hefty prison sentence and a significant fine. "Our financial investigation team can also strip drug dealers of any assets that have been obtained using money earned illegally." Anyone with information about drug dealing in their area can call police on 101.
