Marathon 4 Mandy

This coming Sunday 11th September a group of previously non runners from Weston-super-Mare will be running the Bristol Half Marathon to raise money for Weston Hospice.
The run was inspired by local woman Mandy Jones who unfortunately lost her battle with Stage 4 Melanoma on August 20th after 15 months of her inspirational and courageous fight to try and beat it. She was supported by the Hospice throughout her illness and her last few weeks there being cared for.
Tracey Willis, a good friend of Mandy's and a local Personal Trainer planned this run a few months back before Mandy became so ill. At this time they never realised that they would be running it after such a sad event. Tracey has worked with a team who couldn't run this sort of distance before and has now trained them to run the 13 mile race. The road has been long and tough but their grit and determination is amazing and Sunday will be an emotional day for all involved.
Mandy was keen to raise awareness of Malignant Melanoma and the dangers of exposure to the sun so as part of the fundraising they also want to make people aware of the dangers and encourage people to cover up in the sun and wear sun creams, hats and make sure we do the same for our children.
If you would like to sponsor Tracey and the team please visit their Just Giving page and sponsor them……

How brilliant is this? Hope the weather is kind and that the wind takes the runners round the course. Go for it to all the runners and hope that it reinforces the message of keeping safe in the sun
