THE MET office has issued a severe weather warning to parts of the UK including the South West region.
It says heavy and locally thundery downpours are predicted today along with strong and gusty southeasterly winds.
The public should be aware that heavy rain may lead to localised surface water flooding and poor driving conditions
Persistent rain throughout the day, coupled with gale-force winds, is expected to cause disruption across the region with motorists asked to take extra care.
The heavy rain and winds up to 60mph are expected to ease throughout the week although showers are likely for the next few days.
