New Love Weston campaign launch to increase visitors

A NEW brochure and website aimed at attracting tourists to Weston-super-Mare is to be launched this month.
Weston Town Council and Weston Town Centre Partnership have joined forces to launch the Love Weston brand.
The new brochure and website is being put together by the firm Insider Knowledge Limited which launched a similar initiative for Newquay Town Council in Cornwall.
Ten thousand copies of the new brochure are to be printed which include details of accommodation on offer in the resort.
It will also highlight attractions and events taking place in Weston and the surrounding areas during the year.
It is hoped the new brochure and website will attract additional visitors to the resort each year.
North Somerset Council used to produce a similar brochure many years ago with a print run of around 100,000.
But this was scrapped as the authority tried to save money from its budgets.
Both the brochure and the website are due to launch this week with the brochures being kept in stock at the Tourist Information Centre.
There are also plans in the coming year to develop an app packed full about information about the town which people can download to their phones or other hand held devices.
Brochures will be sent out on request or people will be able to download them from the website.
Weston Town Council clerk Malcolm Nicholson said: "Weston attracts millions of day visitors but the amount of people actually staying over in the town has declined over a number of years.
"We hope the brochure and website will encourage people to visit us and also stay in the town. "
"The town council in Newquay did a similar initiative which has worked well and we took the idea from that."
Each year North Somerset welcomes nearly 6.5 million visitors, the majority who stay in Weston, bring in around £369 million into the local economy.
