Police have appointed a new beat manager to serve two areas of Weston-super-Mare.

PC Jack Roth has become the beat manager of the Oldmixon and Coronation areas of the town.

Before he became a police officer he worked as a special constable.

PC Roth said: "I am really excited to get to work on this beat, tackling issues of concern to local residents.

"Community engagement is the key to successful neighbourhood policing so I am very keen to meet as many people as possible from both of my areas.

"If local residents cannot attend the beat surgeries then I still want to hear about their concerns and what they think my priorities should be.

"If anyone would like to contact me, this can be done on the non-emergency telephone number 101, or via the Avon and Somerset police website."
