Sign up on the night for Weston charity beach walk

FUNDRAISERS will be able to sign up on the night to take part in a charity beach walk in Weston-super-Mare. For the first time Weston Hospicecare is giving ladies the opportunity to sign up on the day of the event on September 8. The move comes at the same time as the number of ladies taking part in the event has fallen. Hospicecare fundraising manager, Olly Joseph, said: "Rather than dwell on the variety of reasons why the participation numbers are lower than we'd hoped, we want to extend a warm and sunny welcome to any lady who would like to sign up on the evening and who will help us to fundraise for our hospice. "We have never offered official on the night sign up before but the sun is forecast to shine brightly and we hope that many ladies will choose to pop out and walk with us." Ladies are being invited to dust off their trainers and make their way to Uphill beach between 5pm and 6pm to register for the event to walk either 5km or 10km along the beach. There will also be live music and everyone taking part will get a goodie bag. It costs £9 for an adult entry and £5 for a children.
