Whether it's folk, rock, jazz or pop, the live music at this year's Tiverton Balloon Festival 2012, starting this bank holiday weekend, is set to showcase a dazzling array of local talent. With over 20 live acts confirmed so far, there is sure to be something to get everyone tapping their feet. A wide range of live performing acts will also be popping up in different locations around the festival grounds throughout the weekend, with everything from dancing and singing, to Morris dancing and drama.

Kevin Green, Music Director, is enthusiastic about the quality of local music scheduled, and commented; 'I'm really happy to be involved in this year's event and really excited by the music line-up we have. The South West has a huge talent base and the music will reflect the diversity available, from Indie bands to folk music and original material from some great performers.'

The first act will be taking to the stage at 5.15pm on Friday 24th August and the music continues from 1pm on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th. Highlights include the unique pop rock quartet The Nameless Girl on Sunday evening, the enchanting sound of up-and-coming solo artist Alex Gregory, and the jigs of six-piece folk band The Rambling Wildsmiths, both on Saturday night. Other local performers to look out for include Tiverton High School students' very own Rock School, the dancing, singing and drama of Tiverton's Willow Tree Centre of Performing Arts, and the junior section of the Tiverton Brass Band.

Tiverton Town Council are pleased to be sponsoring the music at this year's Festival. John Vanderwolfe, the Tiverton Town Clerk added: "The Council were very impressed with the draft programme and decided to sponsor some of the music activities being organised. There are loads of local performers taking part, so it really should be a weekend to remember. Tiverton Town Council feels that this is the sort of event that will put Tiverton on the map and hopes that both local people and visitors will attend and have a really good time".

Alongside live music, the Tiverton Balloon Festival will play host to a wide range of aerial activities over the course of the weekend. From mass hot air balloon ascents, model and vintage aircraft flybys, hot air balloon inflation competitions, giant kite flying, and falconry displays, there'll be plenty to see both in the air and on the ground.
