FORMER Weston College student and X Factor star George Shelley is hoping his band Union J's performance of a Kelly Rowland track is enough to get them through this week.
The foursome put on a banging performance of When Love Takes Over on last night's show.
The track was originally a hit by former X factor judge, Kelly Rowland. has done enough to make it through to next week's show.
Judges praised their performance with mentor Louis Walsh telling them: "They have it all - great energy, looks and the vocals."
In a statement on their website the band thanked everyone for their support.
It said: "Wow the Itsupport we are getting is amazing!
"We're still a new band finding our feet but we're nearly there, thanks for believing."
The band is already being dubbed as the new One Direction – the boy band which has found international fame after appearing on last year's X Factor.
A meet and greet with the boys at Brent Cross Shopping Centre had to be cancelled last year after too many fans turned up, making it too dangerous for them to at the fan event.
George who went to Golden Valley Primary School at Nailsea before moving to Clevedon still has family in the town and his cousin Sid Harris is a Year 11 pupil at Nailsea School.
While at Weston College George Shelley, aged 19, completed a BTEC Extended Diploma in graphic design and shortly afterwards auditioned for the show.
Among those who knew 'an unassuming and really nice' George was his tutor Racheal Heath.
She said: "I am so proud of George; he has such talent and determination, I wish him so much luck and all the votes he could wish for."
STOP PRESS: Oh it didn't take long for them to announce George and his band are through to the next round - hooray
