A new health and safety course at Weston College is aimed specifically at people wanting to work on the building of Hinkley Point C nuclear power station.
Weston College's Construction and Engineering Centre of Excellence (CECE), based at Locking Road, Weston-super-Mare, is offering the Client/Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG) level three qualification, which is the health and safety card contractors need to work on nuclear power installations.
The first course was very successful with 100 per cent pass rate for the 16 College attendees. Already numbers are filling up for the next course which runs on February 24 and 25.
Chris Simpson, Weston College's Building Services and Environmental Technology Manager, said: "The course covers all the basics of health and safety you'd need on site, plus awareness of hazards and procedures relevant to the nuclear industry. This card is an essential requirement for anybody wishing to work on the Hinkley Point project.
"Our attendees have enjoyed the course and found it exceptionally useful. It increases employability skills at a time when there is expansion in the nuclear industry locally because of the construction of Hinkley Point C."
The two-day course costs £159.00. For more enquiries and to book a place, please contact 01934 411747
