World Record Attempt in Weston-super-Mare

A WORLD record attempt is taking place in Weston-super-Mare and residents are urged to take part.
Boomfest and Weapons of Sound going for a new record of 750 people playing for the World's Largest
Junk Orchestra.
Having played major festivals all over the world,
Weapons of Sound are known as the UK's greenest band and who thump out
their brand of percussion on an array of unusual instruments – from shopping trolleys and plastic barrels to gas pipes and scaffolding poles.
On Saturday August 20, at 4.30pm, Boomfest
organisers and Weapons of Sound are hoping to break the current Guinness
World Record of 617 and create of a new world record of 750.
People of all ages are welcome to take part and they need to register by 3.45pm in the Information Tent.
Some recycled instruments will be available, but
participants are invited to bring something recycled or recyclable to
play on excluding metal dustbin lids.
Boomfest is an exciting new three-day festival for
children, young people and families from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 August
in Weston-super-Mare.
The FREE festival will offer a variety of
performances and workshops for all ages including live music, dance and
free running, theatre, film, comedy, performance poetry, graffiti,
BMX-ing, skateboarding and art exhibitions.
There's a whole programme of
family activity too including lots of great events for the under 5s.
There is also a FREE shuttle bus to Boomfest with
Coombs Coaches every 30 minutes on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August from
9.30am with pick up points at the Healthy Living Centre, Brompton Road
bus stop (near Aller Parade), and Loxton Road shops.
Last return bus
9.30pm on Saturday and 7pm on Sunday.
