Electric Heaters & kitchen appliances are in constant use during these cold winter months, and therefore care needs to be taken. Each appliance should be regularly checked to ensure they are SAFE to use. This should be done by a Qualified Electrician or PAT tester, BUT there are a few simple checks YOU can do yourself, 1. If a piece of Electrical equipment CUTS OUT fairly often STOP using it and get it checked for Safety. 2. If an appliance starts to give off a strange SMELL or if the PLUG gets WARM, switch off unplug the item and have it tested. 3. Check ALL your appliances for things like Fraid Flexes, or dis-colouring around the plug, these are signs that it may not be Safe to use, get it checked. 4. Always ensure that you have put the CORRECT SIZE FUSE in your plug, most plugs come with a 13amp fuse as standard, but if you are using it for a Table lamp it needs to be changed to a 3amp etc. REMEMBER ! Never overload your Plug Sockets, for appliances that use a lot of power such as Heaters, tumble driers, washing machines, kettles etc etc, ONLY USE ONE PLUG PER SOCKET.........DO NOT USE MULTI-PLUG ADAPTORS.
