On the 15th May a Team of challengers are attempting to summit the 3 Highest Peaks in the UK in aid of 2 year old Archie Pearson who suffers with Mucopolysaccharide a rare illness. Little Archie is undergoing weekly pioneering treatment to help him and the family cope with the disease. Archies parents Phil & Yvonne Pearson said "The support and medical help received from The MPS, Weston Hospital and all the Doctors and Nurses has helped us and more importantly Archie, without them we don't know how we would cope."
The 24 Hour Challenge was set-up when neighbour Jason Smith of Wick-Saint-Lawrence was told of Archie's illness. Jason is celebrating his 40th Birthday this year and wanted to make it an event not to forget, with friends and family, the unusual invites were sent out for the challenge with emphasis of raising funds for the chosen charities.
To summit Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Mount Snowdon in Wales, driving across all 3 countries covering 512 miles and with 26 miles ascending and descending all within 24 hours.
The Challenge team consists of Local Business owners, Archies Dad Phil Pearson, Jason Smith and Louise Statter, the Grand Daughter of Sheila Body who helped set-up 'The Teresa Fund' a local charity that operates in memory of carer Teresa Haynes.
The Challenge Team set off to Scotland on 14th May and are hoping to receive Sponsorship from any local Westonians via the secure website tinyurl.com/2fb2xjf
