By WODS Musical Theatre Company.
Following the huge success of 'The Sound of Music', WODS give you the chance to relish the darker side of musical theatre with the shocking tale of 'Jack the Ripper'. Don't be put off by the title; this is a musical comedy drama not a horror, with an atmospheric commentary of the incidents surrounding the gruesome Whitechapel murders which took place in 1888.
Tension and mystery is maintained throughout by a clever shift between reality and artificiality, as characters represent 'real' people and members of the music hall audience and players; this keeps the action moving in an energetic, thrilling and witty performance.
The haunting music will transport you to the East End with rousing dance hall numbers such as 'Saturday Night' and the lilting sultry rhythms of 'Goodbye Day'. Dark humour and the light and shade of human characters bring this chilling piece of history to life.
