FAMILIES can go on a fun packed adventure to the imaginary African Plain Tinga Tinga, as a new children's show comes to The Playhouse Theatre.

How Lion became King of Tinga Tinga Land is an interactive show for children aged between 3 and 11 years of age combining famous nursery rhymes with tales from the animals of the Masali Mara.

It follows the adventure of the wise old bird 'Banjoko' who decides that the land of Tinga Tinga should have a King, and how he sets about finding the suitable animal worthy to wear the crown.

On his journey Banjoko meets the cheeky monkey 'Maliki', a kind but goofy giraffe named 'Gowon', a groovy zebra called 'Zalika' and a very proud lion called 'Lutalo'.

Expect to join in with all the animals in an all singing, dancing and drawing children's production with a host of surprises.

Each animal in the show brings a unique character to the stage and a special story and song which the audience is invited to sing.

The journey starts and finishes in a lively manner keeping everyone's toes a-tapping.

Five performers and two drummers lead kids and their families through this high-octane story full of music, puppets, dancing, and lots of things to join in with.

Children and their families will learn about the characters and hear their stories, and will sing songs, play drums, learn dances and do group activities.

The songs may be familiar to British children but the feel of the whole show aims to give them a taste of life and fun in East Africa.

The animal stories are based on traditional East African tales.

Kids will be encouraged to turn up in costume as their favourite animal and masks will be available for sale on the day.

Based on African artwork from the Tinga Tinga family this show is similar to that seen on CBeebies but this is not a Tiger Aspect production or story.

Tinga Tinga will be at the Playhouse, Weston-super-Mare, on Sunday 30 September at 1.30pm. Tickets, priced at £10, £8.50 for groups / school groups 10+ with 1 in 10 free and family ticket £36 are available on 01934 645 544 or online at http://tinyurl.com/677l7bh
