Katie visited Waterstones in the Sovereign Centre on Saturday to sign copies of Paradise, her third novel in the Angel series.
Hundreds of fans queued from 5.30am to see Katie and one of the first people to meet her was Brendon Ford, 15.
Brendon was mowed down on Marchfields Way in 2006 leaving him with a fractured skull, a split liver, broken ribs, pelvis, shoulder, tibia and fibula bones.
Doctors told his Mum Donna Kibby that if he survived he would probably end up in a vegetative state but Brendon was determined to rebuild his life.
Three years on he still cannot walk but with the help of an Evening Post campaign in 2008 Brendon gets around on a specially adapted trike.
With a titanium replacement to half of his skull the youngster is trying to have a normal life and is a huge fan of Katie’s.
He hoped to meet Katie but got more than he bargained for when she agreed a special request by the Evening Post to have his photo taken with her.
The youngster beamed with delight and could not stop hugging or kissing the 32-year-old celebrity on the cheek.
He asked: "Will you marry me?" to which Katie replied: "I’m sure you can find someone better than me."
Brendon said: "That made my day, she was lovely and all my friends are so jealous."
Donna was pleased Katie made such a special effort with her son.
She said: "Katie does get some bad press but she was absolutely brilliant with Brendon and they had lots of photos taken together.
"He can’t stop telling everyone about it."
Katie looked every inch the celebrity diamante studded top with the words "Celebrity Goddess", jeans and silver shoes.
She said: "My book signings have been going very well but I don’t get to go out and spend time in the towns, I only get to sit in the shop.
"I did eat at Yogi’s Japanese restaurant in Weston last night though and it was really good and I also saw the Grand Pier and the Weston Wheel, which both looked great.
"I am sure I will come back when the pier reopens as my business manager lives in Weston."
Another fan who queued to see the celebrity writer included Veterinary nurse Gemma Coleman, 29, who travelled from Frome.
"She said: "I left my house at 4.20am and I got here at 5.30am.
"I’ve been a fan since she was in the jungle, she’s such an inspiration because she’s so strong and confident. I would like to be like her."
Eloise Tedstone, 12, was on holiday from Wales and said she did not know Katie would be in town.
She said: "I have been a fan for a long time, since she was in the jungle.
"I would like to be like her when I am older."
Paradise tells the story of a glamorous model who's forced to choose between her ailing marriage to a football star and a new romance with a laid-back Californian baseball player.
It has been number one in the hardback book chart since its launch over three weeks ago with more than 42,000 copies already sold, including 19,000 in its second week.
The book can be found on Amazon for £7
