Many people may have already packed their bags and headed off down the coast to Devon and Cornwall or other parts of the country, while other people may still be undecided.
So what are the options available? Hop on an aeroplane last minute and head off for some guaranteed sunshine, stay in the UK or even at home.
Those preferring to jet off somewhere exotic can find some real bargains at local travel agents and with Bristol International Airport on our doorstep it could not be easier.
Several travel agents in Weston-super-Mare are advertising some great family deals including Thomas Cook in Sainsbury, Worle and also First Choice in Weston High Street.
I have booked with Thomas Cook before and have found the staff in this particular shop extremely helpful and very friendly. It is worth taking a look in their window when you pop in for a bit of shopping you may be surprised at what bargains they have on offer.
Also there is a bureau de exchange inside so once you are all booked your trip you can get your currency under one roof.
The best deals today for a family of four are going to Turkey for one week flying out of Bristol Airport. You can stay at the Oasis Apartments in Marmaris for £1100 or the Metin B&B in Dalyan for £1236. Both fly out on August 26.
First Choice at 88 High Street, Weston, is also very welcoming with friendly staff on hand looking to help in any way they can.
But while some families can afford to travel we are still in tough financial times and many people may be struggling to pay for a trip away. However, we must count ourselves lucky living in a seaside resort, where many other people flock in their thousands to come here and have a holiday.
If you are staying home there are plenty of things to keep you occupied in Weston this summer plus if you go away you may even miss the official opening of the Grand Pier, which is due to open sometime next month.
So what can you get up to locally? Well we have the new water park on Weston seafront which is free to get into and offers a great day out for the kids. Now that is what I call value for money!! Further along the seafront from this weekend you can attend Carters Steam Fair, which has set up camp on the Beach Lawns offering all the old fair favourites such as swing boats and a carousel. I have visited for the past few years with my son and he loves it.
Other options are the Sand Sculpture Festival on Weston beach, which is only a couple pounds to get in and the Sea Aquarium. Plus there are lots of fun family days planned throughout the summer at various parks.
If you have any other ideas for activities or own a holiday home and have some last minute bargains, feel free to add the details on here.
