Activities for Young People This weekend

LOOKING for something to do this weekend other than going to HeliDays? then head for the Italian Gardens.
A range of workshops are being held there for young people from 2-5pm this Saturday (July 24).
People aged 11-19 are invited to take part in a variety of small workshops, to explore some of the activities youth workers can offer to them and also to demonstrate their talents.
Workshops include smoothie and non alcoholic cocktail making - to demonstrate healthy eating/drinking options.
Young people from the Potteries will have a cake sale, and reps from the Teenage Health Service will be on hand to talk about the district-wide No Worries service.
The event is being staged by the Weston Town Centre Youth Project and on the day they will be launching a new youth-led arts project, funded by North Somerset Council Youth Service and Find Your Talent.
The project is supported by Lucy, an experienced artist from creatXchange, and will run over six weeks during the summer.
Young people will have the opportunity to explore a range of visual arts, such as drawing, video documentation and 3D work, possibly including clay and photography.
Lucy said: "Young people don't need to be artistic to get involved as long as they have fun 'making something' that is themed around their community."
An empty shop will be used as a makeshift gallery to exhibit the evolving arts installation during this year’s Streetfest from September 10 to 12.
