Streetfest Event Offers Free Events in Weston-super-Mare

Streetfest 2010 is taking place in Weston-super-Mare this weekend,

The event is North Somerset’s biggest celebration of young people’s creativity, packed full of FREE events for the whole family to watch and join in with.

Following last year’s hugely successful event, organisers have developed a three-day programme of street dance, music, art, and comedy workshops and performances on the Beach Lawns, from Friday 10 to Sunday September 12.

Streetfest 2010 kicks off on Friday afternoon with a carnival parade along the Promenade led by the drums of African song and dance troupe group Siyaya and more than 500 primary school children from Walliscote, Ashcombe and Bournville primary schools.

The celebrations continue with Broadoak School presenting a selection of memorable numbers from the hit musical FAME, a Fashion Freestyle Show direct from London College of Fashion’s summer residency at Weston College.

In the evening the very best local young bands play the main stage from Find Your Talent’s Natural Talent Records stable and local bands from Weston College.

12.30pm – 2.30pm Primary School Parade and performance

4.30pm – 5pm Broadoak School present FAME

5pm – 5.35pm Fashion Freestyle Show, with DJ John Kendall and hosted by radio presenter Junior Saunders.

6.20pm – 9.30pm An evening of outstanding live music with sensational local bands from Weston College, Find Your Talent's Natural Talent Records, and headlined by The Operation.

On Friday 10 and Saturday 11 September at 7pm, young people can also play Weston super NightMare, a newly commissioned street game for 14-16 year olds developed by Slingshot the Producers of igfest - the interesting games festival.

  

Prepare to be terrified as zombies, monsters and vampires are unleashed in Weston’s first ever street game Weston Super Night Mare, an exhilarating chase game for 160 young people!

Streetfest 2010 has been planned and funded by Find Your Talent and Outdoor Events UK whose Streetfest 2009 event was such a huge hit last year.
