New Street Lighting For Weston Seafront
By vickifitz | Friday, September 10, 2010, 21:02
Work to install state-of-the-art street lighting near Weston-super-Mare's seafront is due to start next week.
The works are being carried out on Beach Road from the Grand Atlantic Hotel to Quantock Road to replace old concrete street lighting columns with new 100% fully recyclable aluminium columns.
These new lights will have white light lanterns in keeping with the multi-million pound seafront works and the redevelopment of Pier Square.
They are more environmentally friendly and energy efficient and are fitted with the facility to monitor and dim to minimise light pollution and reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
A total of 32 lighting columns will be replaced at a cost of £44,000.
The work, which gets underway from Monday September 13 should mean minimal disruption to residents and road users. The project should be completed within four weeks.
Contractor Scottish and Southern Electric are carrying out the work on behalf of North Somerset Council.

I keep looking at the website, but I can see no mention of when the sea defences will be completed....... I find this most surprizing!!!!!!
