THE TROPICANA in Weston-super-Mare could be given another chance of regeneration.
Businessman Richard Nightingale, who owns Nightingales Removals in the resort, has revealed that his proposals for the Tropicana site will be made available to residents for viewing at the end of August.
The first designs to be unveiled are by Grimshaws, internationally renowned architects responsible for the Eden project and Bath Spa.
These will be made available for viewing between 10am and 4pm on Tuesday August 31, at Nightingale Property Sales & Letting, Station Road.
Mr Nightingale will be on hand most of the day to answer any questions.
The second plans have been drawn up by StrideTreglown, experienced local professionals , responsible for array of Health and Leisure facilities.
Their extensive portfolio includes several successful construction schemes involving multiple pools and leisure projects.
The company was also involved with proposals put forward for the rebuilding of Weston’s Grand Pier.
Their designs for the Tropicana will be available for public viewing at the same location on Monday September 13.
Lastly there are proposals by Ferguson Mann and Faulkner Brown.
These should bring a different perspective to the design proposals.
Ferguson Mann is an innovative company which has extensive experience in designing and building successful leisure facilities, responsible for the Bristol Venice Master Plan at Cannons Marsh which was central to the award-winning Bristol Millennium project, also the Aquadome at Basingstoke, and Cardiff International Swimming Centre.
These designs will be unveied at the same location again on September 27.
These proposals have been the result of many months deliberation and hard work and have been compiled following an extensive consultation period with residents.
Mr Nightingale said: The unveiling of our proposals has come about following many months of hard work and extensive consultation with the residents.
"We are now in the final stages of the consultation period where residents who will be able to view the designs and give their views on which of the three should lead Nightingale’s submission to the council for the Tropicana development.
"I really hope that as many residents as possible will take part, giving their honest opinions of the proposals and particularly which one they would ultimately like to be built on their seafront.
"As I have mentioned before, it is important that the preferred scheme is one which has been chosen by the residents and submitted to North Somerset Council on behalf of the residents.
"We are hugely excited about all these designs and we hope residents will participate in choosing the winning proposal.
"Also my heart felt thanks to everyone locally who has contributed so far."

EXCITING - this is such a brilliant move forward, I am definitely going along to see the plans. With all the fantastic work done across Weston sea front this just has to be sorted soon. There is a great posibility of those who really care about Weston being able to say Wow look at this place instead of feeling that no one really cares, fingers crossed.
