A CLAIRVOYANT from Weston-super-Mare has died after helping people in the town with spiritual readings for five decades.

Madam Tamar, whose real name is Peggy Livingstone, died on December 11, aged 96.

For generations she had been conducting spiritual readings in the resort, helping thousands of people with personal matters in their lives.

She says she was born a spiritualist and inherited the trait from her mother and her grandmother but she had no children of her own to pass it onto.

Her reputation was so good she was even asked to help police solve cases.

Madam Tamar was once featured in the Weston & Worle News where she made accurate predictions to the reporter.

She knew about her forthcoming wedding, predicted a new job for her fiancé within 10-14 days, which came true after 11 days and how many children she would have.

In the interview she said: “It is no use pretending you know you have to hear it properly and say what you hear but I do know what I’m talking about.”

Mrs Livingstone was born in Cumbria and moved to Weston with her first husband Lynn Williams, who died.

She later remarried Joe Livingstone but he too who passed away.

For many years Mrs Livingstone lived alone in Clarendon Road and continued to give spiritual readings right up until her death for around £10.

The last reading she gave was the day before she died.

Niece Shelia Hewitt described her aunt as a much loved and trusted resident of Weston.

 A funeral will be held at Weston crematorium on January 4, at 11am.
