Your Top Wedding Guide for Weston-super-Mare

YOU are completely loved up, have a nice flashy ring on your finger after a romantic proposal and now you have the excitement of planning your special wedding day.

With so much to organise from the venue, the dress, the car, flowers, cake and music, how do you know where to begin?

• The Bride

You want to feel like a princess and these are my top three wedding dress shops locally where you will find a range of stunning dresses. Tucked away in Whitecross Road is Nicola Bridal. 

This shop has been in existence for years and I even bought my beautiful Mori Lee dress here seven years ago. Nicola is such a warm and friendly shop and the lady will go out of her way to help you and can even do any alterations you may need. The shop also offers a range of bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride outfits and all those sparkling accessories.

Another top shop, which I drive pass every time I pop into town and admire the window is

White Lace & Promises. The shop is over two floors and has a lovely range of bridal gowns, bridesmaid and prom dresses available in sizes six to 18. In addition there is a new ‘Curvaceous Brides,’ range of dresses and accessories in sizes 18 to 36. The staff are friendly and you have lots of space to try on all those fabulous gowns. There is also a popular ‘Sale Rail’ range of wedding gowns, available immediately and starting from £100.

Just outside of Weston at Rooksbridge you will find Rookery Manor,

which is also in my top list of wedding venues, which we will come to later on. The venue has a stunning dress shop and has some of the most beautiful gowns I have ever seen especially if you are looking for those really big fairy princess dresses. I think you need to make an appointment in advance but that way you know you have got their undivided attention.

• The Groom

The most second most important outfit is the Groom, sorry to all the men but this is fact. The bride’s dress does come first and of course you want it too as well because you want your new wife to look the most beautiful she has ever been. But you do need to look the part also and you can find some impressive suit hire shops in Weston.

White Lace & Promises offers gents hire. Whether you need a lounge suit, a traditional morning suit, top hat and tails, highland wear, Asian wear or a dinner suit, the shop can supply what ever you require. It has a vast selection of waistcoats, cravats, ties or ruche in a fantastic range of colours and fabrics. The shop can even supply shoes and shirts. Grander Grooms also in Milton offers a wide range for the groom from morning suits, Highland Kilt to tux. There is also a great deal whereby if you hire five Wedding suits from Grander Grooms the Groom goes FREE.

• The Venue

So once you have got the dresses picked we come onto the venue. Weston-super-Mare itself does have some wedding venues such as The Royal Hotel and The Beachlands Hotel, which both offer lovely wedding services. But if you are looking for that real wow factor with stunning chandeliers, twinkly lights and gorgeous gardens for those wedding pictures then head just outside Weston to the countryside and you will find Rookery Manor

and Batch Country Hotel. I have been to four weddings at Rookery and each and every one of them have been stunning. The venue offers a range of packages and every couple know who have been married there cannot praise it enough. I have only been to one wedding at Batch County Hotel and that was my own. It was a perfect day, fabulous grounds with stunning views, lovely food and I could not have asked for better. Since I married the venue has extended and is now even bigger and better so make sure you take a look.

• The Cake

The main cake shop offering some really lovely traditional and modern cakes is the Cake Corner. If you are on a budget you can always buy traditional iced cakes in a range of food stores such as Tesco and Marks and Spencer and then buy the iced flower decorations from the Cake Corner as they sell these separately. Marks and Spencer also has a range of wedding cakes to order and one I seen recently was fab!

• The Flowers

A friend of mine recently used Salisbury Florist and got a great deal on her flowers and wedding photography. The flowers were stunning and came exactly as she had asked and the wedding pictures by Vanda Photography were great too. So well worth popping in.

Another florists which offer wedding flowers include Marias Flowers, which always provides beautiful flowers. But one lady I have to say who recently went out of her way to help me get exactly what I wanted and designed the perfect flowers I required was The Greenhouse Florist in West Street. It is a small and cosy florist but well worth popping in.

• The Car

You’ve got your dress on, you look amazing and now you have got to get to the church or wedding venue on time and in style. So here is a list of some of the car companies offering a range of stunning cars. Spirit wedding cars offers a 1930's Style White Beauford Wedding Car, Rolls Royce Silver Spirit and two Jaguar XJ8 cars.

Looking for a limo then talk to Eclipse Limousines. My friend hired them and the limo was gorgeous.

• Decorations

If your venue does not offer all those fancy extras such as balloons, favours, chair covers and table decorations head for Party Perfect if has everything you could possibly need.
