A CHRISTMAS WISH FROM WESTON HOSPICECARE

We all have our Christmas wishes, a special gift that you have had your heart set on, or perhaps it’s to have all of your family together for a big festive meal?
And Weston Hospicecare is no exception - our wish is to give every patient relief from pain and keep them comfortable this Christmas.
Weston Hospicecare has launched a special Christmas Appeal asking the local community if they would be able to donate £12 this Christmas to make this wish come true.
It costs £2 to provide a patient with pain relief for the day; with £12 we can relieve them from pain for the whole Christmas period.
A simple Christmas wish that would mean so much to patients and their loved ones.
As well as sending in a donation Weston Hospicecare is also urging supporters to write a message to patients and staff in the Hospice on a paper chain link.
The paper chain is then displayed within the Hospice so that staff and visitors can read the kind messages that people have sent in over the Christmas period.
Gill Blackshaw says “As the Director of Nursing I can assure you that your donation will make a difference. Every day, I see our dedicated team of doctors, nurses and volunteers providing vital medication that keeps those with life-limiting illnesses a little more comfortable.
"This can be here at our In-patient Unit, or through our Hospice at Home service, which provides care for people who choose to spend their final days at home.
“I also see donations being turned into group support at our Day Hospice.
"I see smiles at our Time4U clinic as we help people rebuild their confidence after aggressive, body-changing treatments like chemotherapy.
"And I see our incredible counsellors listening to family members who’ve lost a loved one and simply don’t know how they can go on.
“All of this wonderful work is made possible by our supporters. We rely on local people for 80% of our income and believe me, we are so grateful for all that our supporters have done.
"But at Christmas time, at the end of such a busy year, we need your support now more than ever.”
If you are able to help the Hospice with this appeal or you would like to set up a monthly regular gift to the Hospice please fill out a form.
(Please write your name and address clearly on the form somewhere) or call Jennie Bishop on 01934 423928.
Please also don’t forget to fill out the paper chain link so we are able to add some extra cheer to the Hospice and remind patients and their visitors for all the support they are receiving from the local community.
