Any chance of local artists displaying their work in Weston's numerous empty shops???

I'm sure the Council are considering these ideas already - I'm under the impression they are speaking with the owners of empty shops to ask if they would have any objections.  I guess there will probably be health and safety issues, security, insurance and so on.  It might not be a bad idea to ask your local councillor if they can find out anything.  If I remember where I heard this, I will leave a post.

I think this is a good idea on many levels and is something other Communities have done to liven up wasted shops. I saw a similar thing on T.V. in Margate over the last few days.

I think the Local Authority could promote this with shop owners to lift the Town Centre - better than the onion !

Local painters, photographers and creative peaple generally could be invited to provide examples of their works.

Would it depend on who owns the shops? I imagine you would need to find a way of contacting the landlord, because if you just put it on the outside then it would be like fly-posting. I'm sure this has been done elsewhere, so it should be possible, I'm just not sure how you'd go about it. Perhaps the council would know.

This is a great idea! Rather than the windows being whitewashed or blocked up, they should be used to display works by local artists.  Weston has plenty to offer. Much nicer than looking at empty shops!
