The annual Illuminated Carnival will return to Weston-super-Mare tonight (November 16) despite the bad weather which hit the coast overnight.
The procession will go ahead as planned and promises to be a spectacle of lights, music and entertainment with more than 100 floats taking part.
This year the carnival will be taking an alternative route around Weston-super-Mare due to the seafront enhancement work.
Beginning at 7.15pm from Locking Road car park, the procession will pass the Odeon following Regent Street towards the seafront.
The floats will then travel past the Grand Atlantic Hotel before going left down Clarence Road North (rest area) and Walliscote Road.
The official end of the carnival is the roundabout at the end of Walliscote Road by the Town Hall.
There will be no parking available on the route from 4pm and road closures will be in place from 6pm (Beach Road from 4pm).
The main clubs looking for a full set of wins are Gremlins CC with its entry Joust and Gemini CC with To The Trees, after winning six out of six in the open features and open tableaux categories.
For further information on access please contact the North Somerset Council events team on 01934 427249.
Programmes for the event will be available from Weston-super-Mare Tourist Information Centre.
