The annual fundraising Big Breakfast takes place in Congresbury on Saturday, October 31, and organisers are hoping to raise more than £2,000 this year for Weston Hospicecare.
The event, held at the Rec Club just off Brinsea Road, is organised by the Congresbury Supporters Group who work tirelessly to raise money for the Hospice, which has one of its 12 shops in the village.
From 9.30am until midday on Saturday, October 31, hungry punters can enjoy a full English breakfast with all proceeds going to the Hospice, which cares for about 1100 people each year with life-limiting illnesses in the North Somerset area and neighbouring parts of Somerset.
As well as the fry-up, there will be a range of home-made jams, chutneys and cakes on sale, and a chance to do some early Christmas shopping with calendars and Christmas cards also on sale.
The annual Big Breakfast has been running for the past eight years and has raised as much as £2,000 in the past in just one morning.
Organisers are hoping to raise a similar amount this year especially as Weston Hospicecare, based in Uphill, has launched an appeal for £160,000 to deal with the extra demand for its services.
The charity, which is also celebrating its 20th anniversary, is asking people to Do Just One Thing this year to help it raise the money it needs to keep providing its vital and highly-valued service.
Whether it’s abseiling off a building, having a big breakfast, or holding an event at your local pub, the Hospice needs your support to continue to provide excellent levels of care.
Weston Hospicecare fundraiser Sue Sweet said: “This is a great fun event that raises a great deal of money for the Hospice.
“The supporters group in Congresbury does a fantastic job every year of cooking up a big breakfast for people to enjoy and I expect this year will be just tasty.”
