Weston Hospicecare is reminding people that there are just two days left to make a donation at the charity’s Tree of Light at the Sovereign Centre in Weston.
The annual Tree of Light Appeal has been running since mid-November and comes to an end on Friday (Dec 18), but people will still be able to make donations after that by filling out the appeal forms which are available at Weston Hospicecare shops, or by going online.
The Hospice, which provides free palliative care for about 1,100 people with life-limiting illnesses each year and support to their families, also wants to thank everybody who has made a donation and supported the charity this year.
Hospice fundraiser Sue Sweet said: “The Tree of Light is a real opportunity for people to support the Hospice and for the community to give something back.
“The appeal has been going well again this year so we really want to say a big thank you to all of those who have made a donation and to the volunteers who have been at the tree for these past weeks helping people to remember somebody this Christmas.”
People from all over the region have been dedicating lights on the tree in memory of a loved one who can’t be with them this Christmas.
Once the donation has been made the names are placed in books of remembrance which will still be available to view at the Weston Hospicecare shops in Waterloo Street, Cheddar, Worle and at the Hospice itself in Uphill as well as the Cadbury Garden Centre in Congresbury.
After Friday people will still be able to make a donation by picking up a form from any of the charity’s 12 shops throughout North Somerset and neighbouring parts of Somerset as well as the Hospice itself in Uphill and by going to the Weston Hospicecare website at: www.westonhospicecare.org.uk/treeoflight
The Hospice costs in excess of £2.7 million to run every year and it relies heavily on the generosity and support of the local community to continue to provide these vital services.
