Weston Hospicecare has launched its Tree of Life campaign to raise vital funds and remember loved ones this festive season.
Every Christmas the hospice stages a celebration of life, which in turn raises money for the Uphill-based hospice.
Friends and family are invited to dedicate a light on the Sovereign Centre Christmas tree in recognition of those who have passed away.
An official launch took place last night, with a dedication ceremony featuring carols, readings and poems.
Sue Sweet, the charity's fundraiser, said: "Christmas is a time of remembering people who have touched our lives.
"Weston Hospicecare's Tree of Light appeal offers people the chance to have a light shining in memory of someone who for whatever reason cannot be with them this Christmas."
"The Tree of Light campaign raised £21,496 for the Hospice last year and this year we hope to achieve a figure of even more than that."
All dedications made are listed in a Book of Remembrance displayed at the Sovereign Centre and at the Weston Hospicecare shops in Waterloo Street, Cheddar and Worle and also at the Hospice itself.
