Weston-super-NIGHTMARE!!!!

Walking down the seafront, you see all the usual things. Children with ice cream, the smell of fish and chips, the little shops offering rock and fudge, and then you spot it. The eyesores that are the roadworks and the pier. Now, I know it's affecting so many, and so few are willing to write about it.
Sitting in the Seaside cafe (lovely food by the way) I fail to see the seaside, due to the view of a dozen excavators. And its been this way for so long there seems to be no end in sight!
I don't know about you, but I figure Weston's main trade is in tourism, but as I linger over my coffee I hear at least ten people, gazing over their maps say under their breath "well it looked good on the map...LYN, FANCY TORQUAY TOMORROW?"
It's just not a desirable place to be on a holiday, and in this beautiful weather, people want to be faced with melting ice cream and losing a few quid on the tenpenny falls on a pier, not navigating their way around a labyrinth of metal fencing and diggers.
Personally, as soon as T4 on the Beach comes along, I'm locking my door until the summer is over!

ReportI have indeed seen roadworks before nickalamb, I used to live in Birmingham, so have seen many, many places torn down to foundations, renovated, then the next one started on. And I can genuinely say, buildings much bigger and more complicated, did not take as long as it has done to rebuild the pier.
I am fully aware the pier burnt down, I could see it from my house at the time, I'm not one for conspiracy theories but.....
I fully appreciate the fact that something is being done, but they seem to be moving an awful lot faster now they're being fined each day it's not completed! Makes you wonder if this tactic had been in place before whether they may have completed a little faster?

ReportWe have always come to Weston since our lad was very young 30 year ago, because there was so many attractions for children, Tropicanna, where's that gone? as it always use to be full with holiday makers and making money , The Sea front now for the last 2 to 3 years of coming there's no where to sit on sea front , between pier and Wintergardens, wheres all the benches?? , nowhere for the elderly and disabled to sit, and why because its all been took up by your Council Workers, Sorry but Weston has been spoilt by its big diggers all it's alterations. So come on Weston Council do something to draw the holidaymakers in if you want to make money, you have to spend money to makes things better. First put benches all along the sea front for the Elderly not everyone wants to sit on the sea wall as there is no back rests ...... Bring Weston Super Mare back please to make it an enjoyable Sea Side Resort a pleasure to visit. We are now pensioners ourselfs and can't walk very well.We love nothing more than to sit on sea front ,between the Pier and Winter Gardens and watch the world go by with an ice cream or just sit quietly . So Weston Council pull your socks up and get the work done very soon as we come down on the first week in August we want to see a lot of changes since the mess we noticed on sea front the last couple of years. MORE BENCHES PLEASE FOR THE ELDERLY .
