Weston volunteers needed for Christmas charity

Homeless charity Comfort At Christmas is calling for volunteers to help out in Weston-super-Mare again this festive season.
The charity has been providing food and accommodation for the homeless at Christmas for the past 17 years.
For the past three years, the base has been at St Paul's Church in Walliscote Road and the church will once again be opening its doors.
The shelter will run from Christmas Eve at 2pm until December 29.
But organisers said while they can expect dozens of homeless people to come and use the shelter, the numbers of volunteers prepared to give up their time over the festive period is dwindling.
The charity urgently needs people to work shifts – especially evenings – to ensure the service can continue throughout the festive period.
Committee member Christine Pratt, said: "It really is a wonderful cause.
"We do need volunteers to help out, the more the better. We will be holding a training night on December 15 and we invite people to come along to find out exactly what we do.
"Volunteers will be responsible for cooking, tidying, chatting to clients as well as handing out clothing, toiletries and presents."
Last year saw Indian restaurants cook up food to help out and Hussains in Meadow Street and Tandoori Masala in Worle High Street have both agreed to cook up some curries this year.
As well volunteers, the centre will need donations of cash, food, bedding and clothing.
About £3,000 has to be raised to pay for round-the-clock rent, heat, light, food and insurance.
Christine added: "We need food, money and sleeping bags but we will take anything we are given."
