Top-flight Motocross is coming to Weston-super-Mare for the first time ever in mid May.
On Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, round two of the 2013 Red Bull Pro Nationals series is staged on a track specially sculpted out of the beach.
Innovative series promoter e22sports is behind the plans to bring professional riders of the calibre of two-time world champion Steve Ramon (Belgium), West Country favourite Tom Church and defending champion Nico Aubin (France) to the famous Somerset seaside resort.
They will compete on a custom-built course in a concentrated area south of the pier that's expected to take up to a week to construct.
e22sports managing director Matt Bates said: "I'm really, really excited about this.
"Weston-super-Mare is an ideal venue for what will be a unique event.
"If I have one goal it's to take every round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals to city centre venues.
"Obviously, that's never going to happen but the next best thing you can hope to do is go to
a town like Weston-super-Mare that's got a big population, lots of visitors and a prime site in a region that's very strong for Motocross."
The event has the full support of North Somerset Council.
North Somerset Council executive member for tourism and leisure Felicity Baker said: "I'm delighted we will be working with e22sports to stage this event as it will give Weston and North Somerset even more exposure on a national and international basis.
"Matt and his team have a strong track record in the sport and this is yet another example of the commitment we have given to attract a wide variety of events to the area."
The Red Bull Pro Nationals is a seven-round series that tours the country and features racing over two days for the UK and Europe's top Professional and youth MX racers.
The Weston-super-Mare weekend will feature the full compliment of activities that have become intrinsic to the Red Bull Pro Nationals' motocross family festival feel with the Motocross Experiences, electric bikes and balance bikes aimed at introducing newcomers of all ages to the joys of two-wheeled riding.
Sunday will also see Freestyle Motocross shows, trials displays from Dougie Lampkin, world-class aerial acrobatics from the Red Bull Matadors and children's TV favourites Peppa Pig and George, Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam in the Kidzone area as well as bouncy castles and plenty of attractions for getting youngsters active.
Admission will be pegged at a special one-off price of £10 for adults and £5 for children under 16 and senior citizens with family tickets just £20.
