Pitts peaks down in the valleys

MENDIP PGA professional Kevin Pitts was in great form when he competed in the Rhondda Centenary Pro-Am in Wales last week. The format of the day was best two scores to count from the pro and his team of three local members. Kevin was also competing for the professional prize with his own individual score on the day. Pitts found form and carded a one-under round of 69 to come third overall, two shots behind the winner. His solid play then earned him and his team first spot with 87 points. A total of 48 ladies played in Mendip’s annual Lady Captain's Day. The bowmaker competition was won by Edwina Willis, Daphne Irons and Pam Jarvis with 83 points, best score by a 36-handicapper was won by Sally Browse with 28 points, the Gladys Shepherd Trophy for best bronze division score was won by Liz Carter with 41 points, and the Cooper Goblet for best silver division score was won by Liz Rose with 40 points. This year’s Ladies’ Invitation Day was a pairs stableford competition. The winners were Liz Carter (Mendip) and Gloria Barber (Orchardleigh) with a score of 62 points. Runners-up were Trish Murphy (Mendip) and Anne Meakin (Weston-super-Mare) with 58.
