IT will be out of the kitchen and on to the start line for four seafood restaurant workers from Weston-super-Mare.

The team, from the Cove restaurant and Captain’s Cabin pub, have entered the

All four runners – Gemma Stacey and Heath Hardy, who own The Cove, in Birnbeck Road, and Tim Foote and Lee Scanlon, from the Captain’s Cabin – have never run a half marathon before and are looking forward to the challenge.

Ms Stacey, 2, who works in the kitchen of the AA rosette restaurant, said: “We heard our colleagues talking about the Bath Half Marathon and we decided we’d go for Bristol. It seemed like a good challenge. Eventually we’d like to take on a full marathon and follow in the footsteps of chefs like Gordon Ramsey and Marco Pierre-White.

“It’s been difficult fitting in the training but we’re ready for the race now.”

The foursome are raising money for Macmillan cancer support and for a Crohn’s disease charity after losing people affected by the illnesses.
