Whitehall stalwart Craig to celebrate special landmark with match

CRAIG Taylor is celebrating his 1,200th appearance for Whitehall with a special charity match at the club’s Foundry Lane base on Sunday (2pm).
Players aged 35-60 from across Bristol will team up for the Combination against a Whitehall vets outfit. All money raised will be donated to Taylor’s nominated charity, Children’s Hospice Southwest.
â Neil Loader, Bristol’s new rugby development officer, will address senior (7pm) and junior (8pm) Combination meetings at the Portway Rugby Development Centre on Thursday.
â Centre Alec Hughes poached a hat-trick in ten minutes as Weston United cruised to an 85-3 victory at Bristol Barbarians in Somerset One.
Left winger James Arnold also claimed four touchdowns with Matt Fotheringham booting 10 conversions.
Other scorers included No 8 Ned Barker, lock Ashley Russell (2), flanker James Matthews and centre Jon Filer.
â Hornets, beaten finalists in last season’s National Colts Cup, begin their challenge for honours in the new campaign at Torquay on October 17.The winners will be home to Yatton or Combe Down on November 21.
Cleve are away to North Petherton with the prize being a visit to Dings Crusaders, who have a bye.
St Mary’s Old Boys entertain Redruth, and the winners host Weston-super-Mare or Taunton in the next round.
