Do you need help researching people and places in North Somerset?
Then free advice sessions are being hosted by North Somerset Library Service in the newly refurbished Town Hall in Weston-super-Mare.
The North Somerset Studies Library is now located in the spacious and comfortable Frederick Wood Room where more photographs, maps and newspapers are available for study.
An archivist from Somerset Heritage Centre will be visiting on Thursdays, November 1, January 10 2013 and March 7 2013 to advise on Somerset history and families.
People who want to consult documents from the centre will need to contact the archivist at least a week before the date by calling 01823 278805 or by e-mailing archives@somerset.gov.uk.
If you need help researching your family history, then the Weston-super-Mare and District Family History Society will be holding a series of free advice sessions on the first and third Saturday of the month from 2-3.30pm.
The society can help you start your family tree by showing the resources that are on offer including various family history websites, parish and census records, Ancestry Library Edition online and the indexes of births, marriages and deaths.
You do not need to be a member of the society, or have a local family to attend and people are invited to turn up on the day without booking.
